Laser Hair Removal at Gloow

Laser hair removal is a treatment in which targeted laser energy heats and damages the hair follicles, significantly reducing or stopping future hair growth. At Gloow, we use the MORI Vision Diode ICE Quattro Wave laser, which is certified by the FDA, TGA, CE, and ISO 13485. The laser is effective on all skin types, from light to very dark.

There is no difference. Laserontharen, laser ontharen and laserontharing are three Dutch spellings of the same treatment: laser hair removal. People also say laseren, permanent ontharen or definitief ontharen. At Gloow it is always the same treatment with the MORI Vision Diode ICE Quattro Wave laser, at the same prices per zone.

On average, 6 to 8 sessions are needed to achieve optimal results. The interval between sessions is 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the treatment area and your hair and skin type. During your free consultation, we’ll work with you to create a personalized treatment plan.

Most clients find the treatment well-tolerated. The MORI Vision laser has a built-in ice-cooling system that cools the skin during the treatment. You can expect to feel a slight tingling or warmth in the treated area.

Laser hair removal for the underarms costs €39 per session; another area (such as the bikini line or upper lip) costs €69; three areas combined cost €89; and a single full-body session costs €119. That depends on the number of zones: one zone takes 10 to 20 minutes, three zones take 15 to 30 minutes, and a full-body session takes 45 to 50 minutes. The free trial treatment lasts about 20 minutes, including the initial consultation.

Shave the area to be treated 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. Do not use wax, hair removal products that remove hair from the root, or self-tanning products in the days leading up to the treatment. Make sure the area to be treated is not sunburned. You will receive additional instructions in your confirmation email.

After treatment, the hairs may remain for another 2 to 3 weeks before falling out on their own. Hair growth gradually decreases with each session. Avoid direct sunlight, saunas, and intense exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment.

Laser hair removal provides long-term to permanent reduction in hair growth. After a full treatment cycle of 6 to 8 sessions, hair growth has significantly decreased for most clients. Sometimes a single maintenance session per year is recommended, depending on your hair type and hormonal fluctuations.

A laser directs a focused beam of light at a fixed wavelength into the skin, while IPL uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths simultaneously. As a result, a laser targets the hair follicle more precisely, and fewer sessions are generally needed. Gloow uses only a diode laser, while the MORI Vision uses four wavelengths. No. At every location, Gloow uses the MORI Vision Diode ICE Quattro Wave: a diode laser that emits four wavelengths (755, 808, 940, and 1064 nm) simultaneously in a single pulse and continuously cools the skin to -15 degrees via an ice tip. Not permanent. The laser targets the pigment in the hair root, and blond, red, and gray hair contain too little of it. Results are sometimes still possible on dark blond hair. During the free consultation, your therapist will assess your hair type and tell you honestly whether the treatment is worth it, even if the answer is no.

Wait 24 hours before engaging in intense exercise, swimming, or using the sauna. The treated skin will be sensitive and warm on the first day; sweat, chlorine, and heat can cause unnecessary irritation. You may shower as usual, but lukewarm water is preferable to hot. After that, you can resume all normal activities, but avoid direct sunlight for two weeks.

Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area for the first two weeks, and use a high SPF afterward. Tanned or sunburned skin contains more pigment, which makes the laser less safe and less effective. Therefore, it’s best to schedule your treatment cycle outside of your summer vacation.

Laser hair removal is not covered by basic health insurance. Supplemental insurance may cover all or part of the treatment, usually only if there is a medical reason, such as excessive hair growth.
